Privacy Policy

APF AAC Offline

APF AAC Offline works offline and does not collect, transmit, sell, or share personal data.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how NGO “Autistic People Friendly” (NGO APF) handles information in the APF AAC Offline Android application. The application is an offline augmentative and alternative communication tool and may be used by children and adults.

2. No accounts and no data collection

APF AAC Offline does not create user accounts. It does not collect, transmit, sell, rent, or share personal information or children’s data. No information is sent to NGO APF or to an APF server.

The application has no proprietary server, cloud backend, or remote API. It does not use advertising, an Advertising ID, analytics, tracking, Firebase, Crashlytics, or third-party advertising SDKs.

3. Information stored only on the device

The following information may be stored locally on the user’s device so that the application can retain its configuration:

This information remains on the device and is not transmitted by APF AAC Offline. It can be removed by clearing the application’s data or uninstalling the application.

4. Backup, import, and export

JSON backup import and export occur only when initiated by the user. APF AAC Offline uses the Android system document picker, and the user chooses the file and its storage location. A selected Android document provider may be local or may be operated by another provider, depending on the services installed and chosen by the user.

The parent PIN is deliberately excluded from exported backup files.

5. Audio and text-to-speech

The application primarily plays WAV audio files bundled with the application. When needed, it may request speech from a text-to-speech engine installed in Android. APF AAC Offline does not send text to an APF server or API.

An Android system or third-party TTS engine may process speech according to that engine provider’s own functionality and privacy policy. Users can review or change the installed TTS engine in Android settings.

6. Children’s privacy

APF AAC Offline is intended to support communication and may be used by children. The application does not knowingly collect personal information from children or from any other user. It contains no advertising, in-app purchases, subscriptions, or other monetisation.

7. Security and user control

Because settings and the parent PIN are stored locally, physical access to the device and device-level security remain the responsibility of the user, parent, guardian, or organisation managing the device. The parent PIN protects the parent area inside the application but is not a replacement for Android device security.

8. Changes to this policy

NGO APF may update this Privacy Policy when application functionality or legal requirements change. The current version will be published at this address with a revised effective date. Material changes affecting application data practices will also be reflected in the relevant Google Play disclosures and, where appropriate, in an application update.

9. Contact
